Review; Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation

I think I might be a bit late on the band wagon here! But I've only really had the money and the time to be able to buy and try out some new products, and this is something I've had my eye on since it's release.

I'm on of those people that is always searching for that "Made In Chelsea Glow" as I've come to know it. My favourite foundation is the Mac Studio Scuplt, but at something like £22.50 per tube, this isn't a foundation I can afford to use every day! My previous foundation was a Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid, which lately just hasn't seemed to work with my skin tone, or my skin type as well as it used to. I'm not sure why, it used to be fine. I've never had overly dry skin (nothing that can't be fixed with a moisturiser anyway) and I've definitely never had oily skin. My skin is quite normal and luckily, mostly blemish free. I managed to avoid breaking out when all my friends did, as I didn't even start wearing mascara until 2 years ago, let alone foundation!

Anyway. I tried this not sure what to expect after reading some pretty harsh reviews.. But I've really liked it.

I honestly, don't have any complaints about this foundation. When I first got it home and really paid attention to how the shimmer looks in the bottle, I'll admit it was nearly put off using it! However once the foundation is on your face, the shimmer isn't very noticeable. In the right light, the small flakes of "glitter" catch the light in a very flattering way. You're not going to go round looking like a walking disco ball. The product claims to have an "anti fatigue" effect and give a "radiant glow". I wore this foundation today after only getting about 4 hours sleep during the night, so thought every little helped! But I wasn't expecting it to help as much as it did. My skin looked instantly a whole lot brighter, and my face altogether looked more awake.

My only criticism of this, would be the colour range. In Mac foundations I am an NC20, but in this foundation I went for Ivory, which is the lightest shade they do! I have a friend who is quite a bit paler than me, and I'm not sure if this foundation would be right for her.

A few weeks ago, I purchased my first ever Models Own nail varnish in Pastel Pink. I was so excited, the first time I used it, the colour was great, the drying time was minimal, and they lasted for 4 days until I need to do a touch up. This is where the problems started.

Opening up my brand new, favourite pink colour, you can imagine my surprise when this happened...

Putting it down to a dodgy bottle, I went out a few days later and purchased Utopia. Once again, everything was fine. It was a gorgeous pale colour, looked lovely on the nails and dried amazingly quickly and only needed 3 coats. But then again, 4 or so days later, I went to touch up the nails again and...

Double :( !!

Don't get me wrong. Models Own have definitely become my new favourite nail varnish brand. I have no fault with the brush, the strength of the colours, the drying time, and like I said 4 days with no chips and no colour fade is amazing. I'm a definite Models Own convert. But I decided to pop a quick email and Tweet to them, to see if this was a general fault, or just my bad luck.

And fortunately, it turned out to be just my bad luck. With in a week, I'd received a reply and an offer of being sent out 2 replacement nail varnishes. So no concerns with their customer service either! The reply even told me how I can fix the brush back in to the lid!

I should soon have my replacements of my nail varnishes, but I will be ordering these online in future! My local store only has a very small selection and there are quite a few on the website I've got my eye on.

All in all, PLEASE don't let this put you off buying Models Own. At £5 they are roughly the price I expect to pay on the high street, but the quality of the colours etc, are definitely above high street level. This is definitely something I'd highly recommend you try out. And thanks to the customer service guys at Models Own as well.

Finally some new face editions! I was just playing around earlier, seeing if I could work out nice, quick make up to do just for a normal day kind of look, and I like it! You might also notice some new editions, the Maybelline mascara, and the Rimmel foundation.

This Rimmel foundation is lovely. I think, this is the first time I've used it, but first impressions so far are really good! Will it over take my beloved Mac Studio Sculpt? I doubt it. That foundation and I are having one serious love affair. I'll probably post a review soon when I've seen how I really get on with it!

Yep, my beloved Converse Lights have bitten the dust! They're now so dirty they are brown. The laces are so caked in mud I don't even want to touch them. And the last time I wore them I ended up with crippling blisters on my little toes.

So I admit (after examining the footwear of ever girl I saw in an outfit I liked) I finally jumped on the Vans band wagon! And I'm pretty glad I did. They're bit scratchy around the ankles, but that is the curse of having stupidly boney ankles, something I've had to live with!

Honestly, look how gorgeous they are.

My new lipstick love! I wrote about this quickly in a face of the day post last week.

I've been looking for a replacement for my Topshop Pillow Talk lipstick since it was discontinued in there Limited Edition (I'm sure it was) Smoke & Mirrors collection. That lipstick was the perfect pink. However, this has completely over taken it. The panic began when I realised how little of Pillow Talk I had left. I'd heard Mac's Creme Cup was a good dupe, but part of me refuses to spend £13.50 on a lipstick, so the high street hunt began! However, 3 months down the line I had totally given up hope and was rationing Pillow Talk to make sure I didn't run out. However. I went in Superdrug for something completely unrelated and found this!

It's from a range called "FashionistA" which I had never heard of. I used to work in Superdrug was I was pretty sure I knew the ranges quite well, but I was wrong! I was browsing the shelves out of interest and was so excited when I found this it's almost quite sad.

The formula is pretty similar to the Topshop lipsticks, it does need a lip balm or something underneath, because I have noticed it clinging to dry patches a little bit. But what really impressed me is it's staying power. I went to Lakeside the other week and was there for a good 6 hours, including the hour it takes to get there. And when I went to the toilets just before we left, I noticed that the lipstick was STILL there. Bear in mind here, I hadn't touched this up in 6, nearly 7 hours, had lunch and drunk plenty of water, (I learnt the hard way not to shop with out a drink) and had been applying lip balm over the top. Even when I go out on a night out and I'm drinking, the lipstick still stays and is a lot less high maintenance than other brands I've taken out with me.

Packaging wise, I think I prefer how the Topshop lipsticks LOOK. But they do get very dirty, very quickly. This has a red shiny plastic casing on it, and the lid clicks on tightly, so there is no chance of it coming off when I keep it in my bag. Also, this wipes clean very easily, as I learnt when my powder decided to explode in my handbag the other day.

Over all, this is has beaten Topshop Pillow Talk by MILES. My local Superdrug only had 4 or 5 lipsticks in this range, and I'm about to try and find the website to see if there are any more, because I will definitely be purchasing from here again.

Honestly, I need to write a review of this lipstick, it is absolutely gorgeous! I've been looking for a replacement for Topshop Pillow Talk for a while now, and I think I've finally found one! I've never seen this range in my Superdrug before so I have no idea about it. But I'm going to do a little research and get straight on it for you guys if I can. I've also got a review of my first ever Carmine box to come, and a very mini haul from today. I say mini, one of the 2 things was very expensive!

My favourites this month actually contain no make up! A lot of my make up purchases were done at the end of the month, so I haven't had them long enough to be able to include them in this!

Real Techniques Stippling Brush and Blush Brush (Boots)

Honestly, I don't know how I have survived with out these for so long. I was ridiculously excited when I found out they were coming out in Boots, and devasted when I went to 3 different stores and couldn't find them. I was actually in Boots looking for something else when I caught sight of these out the corner of my eye. I love them. My foundation goes on so much better, much more evenly. I use a lot less product with these brushes (seeing as my foundation is over £22 a tube) that can only be a good thing. (I did purchase the Core Kit the other day, but I've only had that 3 days. Expect it to be in next months favourites!)

Burt's Bee's Replenishing Lip Balm

A contender for my Nivea Lipbalm, I have a feeling this might have been in last months favourites, I really can't remember, but this must be something special to have replaced something I've used for the last 10 years! I bought the one with Acai berry in it the other day, and it smells gorgeous!I'll be definitely looking at trying some other Burt's Bees products this month.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

I was bought this for my 19th birthday last summer, and since then I'm ashamed to say its been slightly ignored since! I own so many perfumes that when I go out I have to get other people to pick them for me. A friend recently picked this one and I was totally reminded why I wanted it in the first place and used it every day since. It lasts a long time on my skin, and I also spray it on my scarf or top as I've found it lasts even longer on there. As the name suggests its light, fresh and summery and just, lovely.

The one magazine I never fail to buy every month. I'm loving the new look, it stands out so much easier on the shelf now. The new size makes it much easier to keep in my bag, and their make up features are always amazing.

The Hunger Games trilogy

I've done nothing but rave about this since I bought the first book. I've read the entire series with in 2 weeks, as sad as it sounds one night I found myself seriously considering cancelling a night out to stay and read! And when I got to the last chapter I got a little bit upset. There is a film coming out of these books, but the odds are I won't be paying too see it. I'll be using my Orange Wednesday for this, if I even go. I'm not a massive fan of remakes of books (I still refuse to see the P.S I Love you film) and I don't want these ruined!

Discovered recently how thin the hair is getting where the clips are straining against it so much, so looks like this hair do might have to be here to stay!

Inspiration of the week, Cher Lloyd

Cher Lloyd is one of those things like marmite. You either love her or hate her, and I love her. Don't worry, I'm not going to go all scary super-fan on you. But honestly, I love her. Cher first burst on to our screens in Xfactor 2010 with a seriously memorable audition, and even though that was the series of One Direction, Matt Cardle etc. She was the most memorable contestant of that year in my eyes. She captured the exact type of music I wanted to listen to, before I'd even realise it. In 2011 Cher was once again in the spot light, busting back in to the scene with "Swagger Jagger" and later on her first album. How ever, the main thing I admire about her, is her transition from how she looked on her first audition to how we see her now.

Since Xfactor Cher has done a numerous amounts of photo shoots, putting her on the front covers and pages of some of my favourite magazines.

Cher's make up is a lot darker than I've ever been brave enough to try before. She seems to stick to quite a dark smoky eye with what I've started to call the "cat flick" in some form of liquid eyeliner. Seeing how Cher and a few other people can pull off this dark eye'd look makes me think I just need to take the plunge and try it! I'm going out for dinner tonight, so who knows. Maybe the Harvester might appreciate a big smoky eye?

Sorry for the lack of posts! I've been doing a fair share of design work for my dad. But, I'm finished now. So normal service should resume soon.

Also, quick update. I cancelled my Glossy Box subscription. I've been slightly dissapointed with the last few boxes. I loved the January/Valentines box, I really did. But other than the 2 things from that box I use now, I've got a whole big box full of things that I've never used and am probably never going to use. I've been reading other peoples reviews of the Carmine box, and it seems a lot more suited to me! So tomorrow, I'll be subscribing to that instead and should hopefully have a review up by the end of next week!

Everyone that knows me, knows that I love Jorgie Porter, that Theresa is my favourite Hollyoaks character and I'm only watching Dancing on Ice because she's on it. But there is a reason behind the madness. She is (somehow, and I am very jealous!) one of those people that manages to look gorgeous, finished and amazing every time you see her.

See! Always perfect. I love how she always has a bright lip colour on, something I am never brave enough to try! (I'll admit when I bought MAC's Saint Germain, I was scared of it for a while!) some definite make up inspiration to experiment with! Would love to be able to have as much volume in my hair as well.

Celebrity Favourite; Lydia Rose Bright.

A new feature I'm going to try out. A different celebrity every week. Some of you may know Lydia better from TV show Only Way Is Essex, but lately she's gone on to grace best dressed lists everywhere and is in many peoples opinions one of the most stylish characters on TOWIE. But lately, I've been keeping quite a keen eye on her make up.

I recently noticed Lydia's make up properly in the current series of TOWIE showing on TV now, until then I'd always been a fan of the show but never paid proper attention the casts particular styles, thinking them all very similar, style lovely don't get me wrong, but very similar. But in the last 2 series, Lydia's style has really stood out to me. She (I think, don't quote me) is the only member of the cast to not always wear hair extensions and too me, an obsessive extension wearer myself, can only make me love a person more. Lydia make up in her "every day" scenes seems to be quite neutral, a brown toned smoky eye with some bit liner on the top lash line, a gorgeous pink-y blush, and either a neutral pink toned lip, or sometimes to dress things up, a bright red lip.

I recently read in a magazine that Lydia uses the same shades of foundation (MAC NC20) as I do, so if this style works for her, I don't see why I can try and get it to work for me!

February Glossy Box.

I'll admit, the Valentines Glossy Box was a big, big, BIG, hit with me. Most of those products went straight in to my make up bag (Nutella jars for those that know my storage systems) and various counter tops and have become every day use products, so the February box had a lot to compete with. It wasn't quite as make up heavy as I prefer my Glossy Box's to be, but seeing as this has literally just come through my door, I'll have to save judgement on some of the products until I get to try them.

The box is back to its usual packaging this month after the bright pink February box, though I'm sure the inside is different, I just don't currently have an old box to hand to compare it.

Serious rant alert guys.
Last night I lost the top off of my wrist dermal piercing. No idea where, somewhere between TopGolf and my house!
I then spoke to one of my friends on the phone who said 'don't worry, I'll give you a lift tomorrow, we'll do a. It of shopping and get some lunch.' so I rung her at 9am today and woke ber up.. It's now 11.55 and I haven't heard from her since that phone call, despite her reading my BBM's and me texting her 6 times and leaving over 10 missed calls. Still nothing. So I thought 'okay I'll get the bus' so I waited over 50 minutes and still no bus. Right now I'm back home sat at my dinning room table waiting for another friend to give me a lift on her way home from university. Fingers crossed after all this they can even fix it. I'll actually cry f they can't. Look what I've been left with.

Honestly, I hate it. It lurches when I drive it, the back windscreen wiper just smears the water over the window, not wipe it away. If I've got my full beams on I can't indicate, my head lights are so dim and at the wrong angle I can't see anything with them on, but the switch to move them up or down doesn't work so I am stuck. My reverse light doesn't come on any more.
The pedals are so close together I can genuinely brake and accelerate at the same time.

Few weeks, and it will be MOT'd and I can sell it.

People bully people for the most pathetic of reasons.
I was bullied in primary school by some kids about 5 years above me, because I bought the same packed lunch every day. Imagine that. Some kids in year 6 bullying a kid in year 1, because she always ate the same thing.

I got accused of bullying someone else in college. Honestly, guys I wasn't. The girl who accused me stole a file of pictures off of my memory stick and tried to put them in her portfolio as her own pictures. She only accused me of bullying her because I made sure all the teachers knew she'd stolen them and she didn't get her own way.

Guys. I'm in such a rubbish mood tonight.

I keep having this dream...

I keep having a few "recurring" dreams recently.

The main one I've been having about as far back as I remember. I'm trying to get ready to go on holiday, or I have an interview or something. But I never get there. Things keep getting in my way, I don't mean like... Physical thing like a big block in my way. I mean people coming up to me in the dream and making me do things for them that make me later and later for my plane/interview. And I never actually see the outcome of this dream, but I know when I wake up that I didn't manage to make it where I needed to be, and then I wake up feeling as stressed as I might have done if I hadn't ever slept.

The other one I've had a few nights recently that I haven't had for a while is about zombies. I'm out in this park with someone talking about this "I Am Legend" style zombie invasion, when all of a sudden the person next to me turns round and says "well I've already been bitten. I can bite you as well." And the most prominent thing I remember next is them saying "I'll bite you on your face, it won't hurt there, I don't want to hurt you." But I have no idea if I actually agree or not, the next thing I know this persons bitten me on the forehead and I'm on my way home. As soon as I get home my mum answers the door and says "what did you do to your face?" and then I just said I fell over or something. Then I go in to the lounge and go on the computer and tell someone on Facebook about it, and they tell me that I have to get out the house now, because I haven't got long left before I 'change' so I go in to the kitchen to tell my mum who says I'm just being silly. But then I wake up, I don't remember what happens next. The thing is, every time I have this dream, the person that bites me on the face is always the person I'm seeing at the time. And while this is happening the only night I don't have those dreams are nights I spend with them.

I asked a friend about the zombie dream the other day, and they think it comes from not wanting that person to hurt me. I think they're right.

This is what my bed room used to look like when I had a double bed. Seriously, the amount of nights I spent squished up against the wall sharing with other people. Though in all fairness I miss the closeness of sharing a single bed. There's always someone to give you a cuddle when you share, because there isn't really any other option.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't even consider getting rid of my double. But sometimes when I share in that, I wake up and we've pushed ourselves to total opposite sides of the bed, both facing away from each other and I just have to put up with it. Or if I wake up before them, it was easier in a single to wake the other person up. Just get up and climb all over them, I can't do that now.

The A&E nurse was lovely. Both time I had to go there. On the same day. As soon as I got home from A&E the first time the bigger "puncture wound" (where something just goes cleanly in and out of your skin) wouldn't stop bleeding so I had to go back. Then the nurse at the doctors, where I had to get the dressings changed every 3 days for 3 weeks told me that it was a "love bite" because the bite on the bottom picture on the right, looked like a heart.
